 I adored these books, more than I've adored any books I've read in a long time, and so this news is so exciting! Martha Wells must be besides herself! New series coming to Apply TV, May 2025!

Yes, exciting - but it's always a bit nerve wracking with beloved books, worrying if they'll mess it up in the adaptation. Plus, Skarsgård's very good, but one thing I like about Murderbot fanart is the androgynous way many artists draw Murderbot. Casting Skarsgård rather than a more androgynous or trans actor fixes the tv character as white and male-presenting, which the books aren't. But we'll see, I guess!

From what I've seen of the cast, they're all gorgeous and diverse and perfect (though I admit the Hewlett fan in me thought DH would have been great as Gurathin). And, while I agree her murderbot is androgynous (Honestly, I thought of it as a her), I more want the story to do well because murderbot is about so much more than its appearance.

(Of course, having a bankable and well-known star is also very useful -- we've seen what happens when a streamer scifi show doesn't have that clout (so many good shows killed way too early)!)
